Getting Inked: Before & After
A great tattoo is a team effort. Here’s how to show up ready — and how to protect your investment afterwards.
💪 Before Your Session
- Hydrate well — hydrated skin takes ink more easily and heals faster.
- Eat a solid meal 1–2 hours before — it keeps your blood sugar steady during longer sessions.
- Skip alcohol for 24 hours — it thins the blood and affects the final result.
- Sleep well the night before and wear loose, comfortable clothing that gives easy access to the area.
- Bring water, a snack and headphones for longer sittings — comfort is part of the craft.
🩹 Aftercare Essentials
- Keep the wrap on as long as we instruct, then wash gently with lukewarm water and fragrance-free soap. Pat dry — never rub.
- Moisturize lightly 2–3 times a day with unscented lotion. Thin layers only — your skin needs to breathe.
- Don’t pick or scratch — peeling and itching around days 5–14 is completely normal.
- No pools, hot tubs or soaking for 2–3 weeks. Showers are fine.
- Sun is the enemy — keep it covered while healing, then SPF 30+ forever to keep the ink vivid for decades.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it hurt?
Honestly — a little, but far less than most first-timers fear. Most clients describe it as a scratching or vibrating sensation. The first few minutes are the most intense, then your body adapts. Placement matters too: forearms, calves and shoulders are the easiest places to start. We work at your pace with breaks whenever you need them.
How much will my tattoo cost?
Pricing depends on size, detail and placement. Small fine-line pieces start around $100; large custom work is quoted after a free consultation. Text us a reference image and placement at +1 (214) 250-8850 and we’ll give you an honest estimate the same day.
How long does a tattoo take to heal?
The surface heals in about 2–4 weeks; full healing under the skin can take up to six months. Expect light scabbing and peeling in week one or two — that’s normal. Follow the aftercare sheet we send you home with, and your free touch-up is there if you need it.
Can you fix or cover an old tattoo?
In most cases, yes. Cover-ups are one of our specialties — we’ll assess your existing piece for free and show you honestly what’s possible, whether that’s a rework, a cover-up design, or a plan combining both.
How do I book?
